The Amazing Pilgrimage Hike You’ve Never Heard Of

In the 7th-century, Japanese monks and devotees of shugendo- (a super rad religion that emphasized resilience and physical exertion as a path to spiritual growth) walked and built the very steps ad shrines a surprisingly low number of visitros flock to each year in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.

If you're a nature lover, growth mind-set loving person like me this is the trail for you! The Kumano Kodo is also a UNESCO heritage site and a sister hike to the Camino de Santiago. This trail was used by everyone from the Imperial household to commoners as a way to achieve spiritual powers through discipline and resilience, and I did it all barefoot cause I'm a crazy person.

After day 1 things got tough, stay tuned for part 2!
